Getting Real About Manhood 3

When Men Survive Abuse

Episode 86 of The Path to Authenticity is the third installment in a series about manhood with co-host Ed Tilton. We see it as part of an important conversation. In the western world, males commit suicide three to four times more than females do. In this segment, we discuss how our problematic beliefs about manhood can affect with histories of abuse. Prevailing images of masculinity make it especially difficult for men acknowledge, let alone discuss, their experiences with physical, sexual, verbal, and emotional abuse. His shame and doubt are complicated even further when the abuse was perpetrated by a female. Hear the first to segments in this series, episodes 68 and 75. The Path to Authenticity is a podcast for people looking for more from life. It focuses on emotional wellness and starts from the premise that our true power comes from our individuality. We talk to various types of writers and artists as well as therapists, coaches, teachers, entrepreneurs, and professionals of all kinds. Our guests possess one common trait. They’re people who know who they are.  We talk about what makes them who they are, how they became who they are, and how we might become truer expressions of who we are.
