The Stranger & the Road

The day before Martin Luther King delivered his “I Have a Dream” speech to a quarter-million onlookers from the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, the poet Spencer Reece was born. Spencer is the author of “The Clerk’s Tale” and “The Road to Emmaus.” The documentary “Voices Beyond the Wall” chronicles his experience teaching young girls to write poetry at their orphanage in San Pedro Sula, Honduras – the murder capital of the world.  His story tells not only what persistence can yield. His is a clear example that life is anything but over when one breaks free from the shackles of alcoholism. In fact, it’s met with unlimited and, sometimes, dreamlike possibilities. Hear Spencer’s story in this episode of The Path to Authenticity with host, Tom Gentry.

The Path to Authenticity is a podcast for people looking for more from life. It focuses on emotional wellness and starts from the premise that our true power comes from our individuality. We talk to various types of writers and artists as well as therapists, coaches, teachers, entrepreneurs, and professionals of all kinds. Our guests possess one common trait.  They’re people who know who they are.  We talk about what makes them who they are, how they became who they are, and how we might become truer expressions of who we are.
